GOLDILOCKS BAG
STRIVING FOR ZERO WASTE I strive for as close to a zero waste workshop as possible. But as we all know, zero waste is just a guideline for reducing and rethinking our day-to-day consumption habits.
So I developed a method of reducing my textile waste by designing articles and accessories using fabric scraps from my sewing workshop, and eventually in others across Brussels.
Today I'm part of the circular economy in Brussels as a certified artisan. Through my practice I am working on developing other products with a truly circular process. I'm still buying a few new accessories to produce this bag. Sometimes, I manage to find second-hand accessories or zips, and this helps me further reduce my consumption of new materials. Eventually, I'd like to find collaborators to facilitate the sourcing of accessories, either second-hand or made from recycled or repurposed materials.
While second hand habberdasheries already exist, this is neither a steady or reliable source of accessories. So I have my eyes on recycled plastic accessories producers.
THE GOLDILOCKS BAG
This being said, the first product I'd like to drop is a modular bag. It is made completely from reclaimed fabric, some reclaimed zips and new webbing and plastic accessories.
There are three modules, Small, Medium and Large, which can be combined to make a bag completely customized to your needs, using a system of detachable straps, clips and Velcro or snap fasteners. There are many possible combinations, but the basic complete bag will always be the same.
The three modules are small (24 x 12 x 6 cm), medium (24 x 24 x 8 cm), and large (24 x 36 x 8 cm). They can be purchased individually at a base price, or all three for a discounted base price.
